So it happened. I made the switch. Those of you that have tracked my blogging journey know that I started with xanga but now that everyone is leaving, I decided it was time to pack up and move on as well. Peer pressure you may ask? That may be part of it.
But I think there is a certain appeal to having a blog that you know will actually be read. And if that means moving on, then so be it.
But then that begs the question, what is our real intent in blogging? Is it merely to process our thoughts and catalog or daily comings and goings? I don't think so. If that were the case, you'd see a lot more people writing in journals as opposed to blogging on the internet.
There's something important about the fact that you know your blog will be read. For me, the experience of writing down my thoughts and clicking that submit button is freeing. It means that the thoughts that have been brewing inside me are now not only expressed in words, but they are also out in the open for anyone to see. They are known.
Is that vain? Maybe to some it may seem so. I make no apologies. I prefer to call it cathartic.
Hello again blog! I have missed you so.
